Tablescape Thursday~ They Came Bearing Gifts..Gold

Today is the Epiphany, Little Christmas, Three Kings Day.

To celebrate the end of the Christmas season, I chose the last I didn’t think myrrh and frankincense were good inspiration points..:)

I used a Quaker Cotton Lace tablecloth my mom gave me when I was first married…a gold and pearl garland for a little bling.

Gold glass chargers from Pier One…

The centerpiece is in a Revere bowl I spray painted gold, with hydrangeas I sprayed gold too.  ( Kammy, the spray paint queen, will be so proud of me!)

Fresh white mums, and a gold beaded garland I got at Villeroy and Boch.

  1. Beautiful, as always ... Kathleen, I had posted a reply to your question about the Christmas cake ornaments, but then I just realized you may not have seen it ... so here it is in case:
I've had them all a while ... One stand was from a store in the city that went out of business a few years ago, the little french pastry ones were from AI Friedman art store a few years ago, and the red and white cake stands were from anthropologie about 5 years ago. The cupcake stand was from Runcible Spoon in Newport. I will keep my eyes open for you if I see any more.

  2. Oh so beautiful Kathleen! Love the gold and the theme of your table...glorious.
Love those goblets and the way you staged the napkins!!

  3. What a pretty, sparkly table.
All the beads in the centerpiece make me think of a wedding bouquet.

  4. Love it! What a beautiful table!

  5. Oh this is so lovely and bright!

  6. Thia one's beautiful, Kathleen! Stunning! I love those glasses! Very elegant table!

I'll start stocking up on my Lucky Charms, I'm in!

  7. Kathleen:

This is absolutely positively goregeous! I love it. I love all of the history, particularly about the tablecloth. But my MOST favorite are the wine glasses. The etching is exquisite. Just spectacular.

  8. A lovely elegant table! I'd love to be a guest!

  9. I love the gorgeous goldness. The etched glasses are so dainty. We're supposed to get snow tonight, and my husband brought home Ramen noodles, crackers, and peanut butter. He's getting ready to hunker down and eat carbs, I can tell! See you tomorrow.

  10. Kathleen this is a gorgeous tablescape! Everything is just perfect.

A St Paddy's Day blog crawl sounds like fun! Last year I went to the parade in Manhattan but I don't think I'll go this year. It was fun, but so crowded, and everyone in the crowd was under 25...I felt old!

PS: I was in Colordo a whole 9 days in December! You dodn't miss me? lol!

  11. Quite elegance and just stunning.
I love every thing you have here..

  12. Kathleen, your creativity and imagination know no bounds (but I've told you that time and time before!) :) I love it.

You've combined such great elements to make a very elegant table. It is beautiful!

WHAT? You spray painted a Revere bowl? *thud* You're brave.

  13. Oh what a pretty golden sparkly table. This is so inviting.

  16. WS has an outlet?? This is gorgeous. I love the centerpiece. I should have picked up some fresh flowers at the store tonight...horrible winter storm on the way, so depressing. Everything just looks beautiful.

  17. Just lovely and sparkley. Another winner, so beautiful.

  18. Oh, so elegant...just beautiful, K! I love the white and gold with the crystal. I am still laughing at your comment about Howard!

  19. Kathleen, all I can say about this table is, Wow! That is just so posh and beautiful! Yeah, I'm glad that I'll have more time to play with you all again. LOL

  31. Kathleen-I think you hang out at William Sonoma :) This is gorgeous and I especially love your centerpiece--you must have spray painted in the garage :). We only celebrate epiphany in church, but I love the idea of making it something special at home. Thanks for visiting and don't laugh...the schools are closed. We are crippled by snowflakes!

  32. Kathleen, gold's a great choice; I've always been fond of gold. :) You just keep outdoing yourself. I LOVE it!

I forgot to tell you that I went to the Christmas Tree Store while I was in Jersey....I was surprised that there was nothing left that was Christmas??.....but I did score braided chair seats for my DR for all of $1.50 a piece and i got a great big throw pillow that looks like a cable knit sweater with buttons and all for the huge sum of $2.50.....thanks for telling me about it....Sue.

  36. I am laughing at your Al Gore comment on my post today. If it gets any colder here I may just have to buy myself one of those Snuggies but with a NY logo on it:)

  39. What a great idea for Epiphany! I thought about doing a 'scape with The 3 kings/wisemen but didn't have much to work with but LOVE your take on the "gold" part of the event! You did it up right too! Everything seems "golden"! I like the star mirrors with the gold gifts on them - perfect!
Our decorations are staying up for at least another week..maybe longer!

  48. Hi Kathleen !
Wow, what a great table for the beginning of the year ! You are so
    creative and
I am very proud of you to paint that centerpiece - the flowers too ??? You know how I feel about gaudy gold....but, you did it well and looks really elegant. I love how you used a gold pen for the placecards and the beads strung about..and those pears - wow - I think we need to have a party and show everyone where we keep it all, LOL - lets wait till spring so I can clean out my area, LOL.
! Where ever did you find warm enough place to spray ? We have had DAYS of below zero, brrrrrr .
Blog crawl... St Pattys we have to drink Irish whiskey ?
    Hugs ~

  49. Kathleen, your table is so beautifully elegant. I adore your stemware and the little place card holders are so cute. I can't wait to see what you come up with next!

  50. Dang....I could have SWORN I posted on this thread! Its floating in cyberspace still.
Your table is lovely & I adore you Mom's beautiful gift of that tablecloth. I also ♥ your mom's gold rimmed etched stems!
We both have the Eternal china, ya' know. :D :D Great minds & all!

I would love to help you learn how to make some pillowcase dresses for your DGD Lilly. Here is a link to a friend's instructions.

Just copy & paste that line into the address bar. The only difference in mine in the photo with the pink tree is that I did Caroline's monogram in machine embroidery on a separate piece, which I then folded back fully, to hide the back of the stitching & hemmed that entire depth. It gave it some nice weight at the bottom. Easy~Peasy~

Sure would love to have the access to the designers fabric warehouse like you....I would go bonkers over such deals!!

Let me know if you have any trouble figuring out the dress.

  51. This is such a beautiful tablescape! I have the Lenox Eternal...I LOVE the goblets, they are perfect for this elegant setting! Just beautiful. I hope you have a fabulous new year!
