Foodie and Flashback Friday

I am joining Designs by Gollum for Foodie Friday, and Suzy at Kitchen Bouquet for Flashback Friday..

I posted this recipe last year, just in time for your Corned Beef and Cabbage dinner.

I still cook some wedges for those who like it the traditional boiled way, but always make a big pan of this..

Cabbage, onions and bacon..

table 2015 Fry some strips of bacon .  Remove the bacon.

Pour off some of the fat.

Slice a large onion into thin slices.

Fry it in the bacon drippings.

Cut your cabbage into fine strips

Add the cabbage with salt, pepper, and a few good shakes of dry mustard powder, and stir fry .

Break the slices of bacon and crumble on the top, serve with your corned beef..

table 694My recipe for Irish Soda Bread is here…

Hope you are joining in on the 16th!

  2. That looks awsome! Cabbage, onions and bacon........I will have to try that:)

  3. Yummy Kathleen!
The Irish Day sounds fun too! I will have to think of something. Have a great week-end too, Cindy

  4. Kathleen! That really looks perfect to serve with corned beef! Thanks for the idea!

  5. Kathleen, what a great-looking meal. I'd never tried cabbage your way until I read about it on one of your posts. Delicious, much better than our old way. (But my plating did not compare to yours.)

    Thanks again ...

  6. YUM Kathleen!! We are huge fans of corned beef and cabbage dinner. The last few years hubby and son have done it and have made Colcannon. I love it but still like my steamed cabbage wedges too.

    Have a great weekend!

  7. Oh, Kathleen, This looks wonderful. Going to get ingredients tomorrow. See you at your party.

  8. I'll be preparing my cabbage your way this year, Kathleen. Love the addition of bacon and onion. And I'm looking forward to the blog crawl!

  9. Your cabbage sounds so much better than putting wedges into the boiling broth, which I always manage to overcook!

  10. Totally divine and lipsmacking. I made boiled cabbage today, but it's from the Cabbage Soup Diet (which my mother put me on). I may have to add some bacon before my husband sees it. Hope you have a great weekend!

  11. Kathleen, I love corned beef and cabbage. I usually boil it all but this roasted cabbage way looks fabulous! I may try this this year...thanks!

  16. Looks delicious, Kathleen!

We tried a fish fry, here at the lake, last night. Oh my goodness. This one added cornbread, which was a real treat.:-)

  17. I love cooked cabbage...this sounds great!

  18. Sorry about Friday! I've been beat..fighting a cold. Can't wait for the Blog Crawl. I've loved the last two years celebrations.

  19. Hi Kathleen

Never thought of frying the cabbage--that looks mouth watering!

Yeah-Long Island will have a 50 degree day today--can you believe it?? Enjoy it with you and yours!

definitely need to give it a try.

  23. I LOVE corned beef and cabbage! It is one of my favorite meals..and that simple dish just looks and sounds wonderful. Thanks for sharing it. I WILL try it..I can I not! :)

  24. Kathleen, what on earth is a blog crawl? I am still wondering how someone came up with the name "meme" It took me a bit to figure out what that was too! I've been blogging for a year now...and still a bit confused at times.

  25. Lookin good Kathleen! Your Irish celebration will be fun!

  26. Now that looks like cabbage I could enjoy!
