Heritage Bundt Cake

First I would like to thank those of you who took the time to vote for the Children with Downs Syndrome  in the Facebook contest.  They won a new van from Toyota for one of their group homes!

Today I am joining The Tablescaper for Seasonal Sunday, and Yvonne for
On the Menu Monday.

I made a Blueberry Bundt cake.

I used the recipe that comes with the pan and added some blueberries tossed with some flour and sugar.

I like this pan for cakes that won't be iced.  A sprinkle of confectionary sugar is all you need.

I served it with additional blueberries and whipped cream.

I have quite a collection of Nordic pans, as many of you do, and this one one of my favorites. I am always on the look out for them at the WS outlet greatly reduced, and once in awhile even CTS has them.  Addictive like dishes and table linens!

My hydrangeas are out of control!

I cut these in half last year, and this year they are back up over the garage window.  After they bloom, I will have to cut them to a third!

I decided to use the chair my neighbor picked up from the side of the road for some garden interest.  The sprinkler system hits this, so I don't have to worry about watering it!

Hope you are having a wonderful Summer Sunday.  We are off to the ocean to watch the gkids have fun in the waves!

I'll show you a slice of the cake in the next post.

It says it serves 16, but that's a very thin serving. I would say 12. Don't like chintzy size pieces! :)

Thanks for visiting!

PS...check out the give away at Debbie's on the top of my sidebar!

  8. O, so happy to hear about the Toyota. Wonderful.

Your cake is just stunning...I really, REALLY need a pan like this. My family and friends would be sooo impressed.

  9. b/c of you I am getting this pan...just ordered it off amazon. YOU should get some sort of kickback. My husband says, "thanks a lot..." HA!!! This is one beautiful cake!

  10. Sure wish I was there to partake of a slice!

  12. Kathleen,

I'm envious of your hydrangeas; they are one of my FAVORITE shrubs. One day I will try my luck with them. The cake is beautiful to look at, and I am sure it tastes delicious. I never met a blueberry I didn't like :) Enjoy your day at the beach and Happy Seasonal Sunday!

  13. That is an amazing pan. Is it difficuly to grease? It looks like anything that would come out of it would be fabulous.

Thanks for a being a part of Seasonal Sundays.

  14. Have had a grand Sunday and you have just lifted it to another level! Looks so very tasty! Cathy

  15. I wish I had a problem with hydrangeas growing up past the windows. ;-)
The cake looks delicious. A friend used that pan for one of our Thanksgiving desserts. Make me want to rush out and get one for myself. Maybe I'll find one at the WS outlet.

  16. I just bought myself a bundt pan. Now I want some like what you have, I can't believe I've lived this long without one. I think you're right about them being addictive.

I'd love to have your hydrangea problem also.

  17. Pretty cake, Kathleen, love the bundt pan!
Your hydrangea are so pretty. And full. Mine fell over. I need to learn more!

  18. Your blueberry cake is beautiful! I know what you mean about those pans being addictive, I don't have one like that, but it's on my wish list!

P.S. I wish I had your hydrangea problem...:-)

  19. Your cake looks so good, Kathleen! I haven't made a bundt cake in quite awhile. You've inspired me.

I edited and put in a difinition of I s'wan, at the end of my post. Apparently, it may have originated in Northern England. I believe it is used in the southern US mostly. I remember hearing I swanny, when we lived south of Missouri and I s'wan in southern Missouri. It is an interesting definition.

  20. I don't know which I like more...your cake or your flowers! Both are beautiful!

I ♥♥♥ the shape of that bundt pan! Sooo pretty! I recently found one of those silicone ones but then read online that they don't hold the shape very well & the cake comes out flat on the top, which is the bottom while baking. I haven't tried it yet.

Hope you had a wonderful day at the beach.

  21. Hi Kathleen! Your cake looks SO good! I wish I had a piece right now! I looked at the recipe--what do you use to grease the pan with? I always have trouble getting cakes out of those pans. Do you use Crisco? Your hydrangeas are going wild which is a great problem to have! Linda

  22. Hi Kathleen! Your cake looks yummy! I love the Nordic pans, too. My fav...the Gothic cathedral! I ask my friends if they would like an arch! lol Have a great week!...hugs...Debbie
PS...Come on over! I'm having a Pfaltzgraff dinnerware giveaway!

  23. I almost bought that pan and then didn't -- because what do I need ANOTHER bundt style pan for -- seeing your lovely cakes make me kick myself -- I should have gotten it!!!

    Lovely hydrangeas!

  24. I love your pan. . . what a beautiful dessert! I have the sunflower shaped one.

  25. That cake looks more like a work of art! AM I the only blogger that does not have a Nortic pan? Your cake not only looks beautiful BUT it looks scrumptious!
We have many outlets here but not a WS! How I would love one of those!
Thank you for participating in OTMM this week. You bring a sweet treat to the party!
    xo Yvonne

  26. I really like Nordic pans, too, but I haven't seen any in a long time. When I was a single mother, I baked cakes to supplement my income from my day job. My mother would buy me one of these special pans now and then, and I treasure them.
Your hydrangeas are gorgeous. As a Southerner not used to all that snow, I am always astonished at the lush green of summer gardens in an area which seems to my eyes like a frozen tundra all winter. The power of nature never ceases to amaze, does it?

  28. Your flowers are gorgeous and I especially love the Hydrangeas. Oh that cake looks so good. I love that pan. I have a couple of Nordic plans but not that one. hugs, Linda

  29. You have the total package, great tablescape, gorgeous cake, and very pretty flowers. I really enjoyed your post and thank you for sharing.
    Miz Helen

  30. The cake is absolutely gorgeous. Your hydrangeas are so pretty. I want to cry because mine were burned-up at the beginning of the summer, then we started having torrential rains for the past four weeks. Now they have brown spots *crying*

  31. Love that cake and your big beautiful hydrangeas! Hope the weekend was fun!

  32. That is one of my favorite bundt pans! I had it in my hands at WS and didn't buy it. You would think I would learn. I'm so happy your group won the van, Kathleen.

  33. I've never seen this shape of cake pan, Kathleen~ I am lovin' it! The cake looks good and yummy and I do NOT like a chintzy piece of cake, either! Am I a pig? LOL

  34. Oh that bundt cake looks so pretty, Kathleen, and looks delish too!...Christine

  35. Wow, that is definitely a beautiful pan shape! What a pretty cake. I love Nordic pans. I have one of my mom's from when she was first married. Your hydrangeas are beautiful. I can't grow them I love the pictures!

  36. I will now have a craving for cake all day today after seeing your photo:-) Looks delicious. Heat index here in SC is over 100 so my plants are all lying on the ground today praying for rain. Hope you are enjoying your summer. Thought I was coming your way but plans have changed for the 10th time this summer.

  37. That is one of the coolest shapes for a cake I have ever seen!!! I really like it! I only have 3 Nordic cake pans with interesting patterns. That is the best one I have seen yet! And the cake sounds tasty, too!

  38. I also love that pan and the Heritage Bundt Cake recipe that came with it. Next time, I'll have to try adding some blueberries - great idea!

I'm so glad they won the van!

    Beautiful hydrangeas!

  39. You know I don't have a Nordic pan yet! I pick them up all the time, but the price always stops me. I've never even seen them on sale. If I had to have something out of control...let it be hydrangeas. That sounds a bit heavenly to me!

  40. If I saw that bundt pan on sale I would buy it in an instant, Katheleen. It makes any cake look remarkable!

So glad those kids won a new van!

Have fun at the beach -- it's a greta day for it!

  41. Kathleen, Your blueberry bundt cake looks fabulous! It's beautiful and I'm sure it's tasty as well. Your hydrangeas look pretty too. Love that color!
    Blessings, Beth

  42. Just looking at your bundt cake is a treat.
BTW - I'm not sympathizing over your "problem" of too my hydrangeas. Wish I had that "problem".

  43. I'm crazy about muffin or cake pans that ha e designs and have several of them. What I need to do is use them more often! With blueberry season approaching I'll have to try your recipe.
My hydrangeas are popping out all over, too.

  44. I haven't seen that pan, how spectacular! I love your chair in the garden. I almost there one out but saved it and punched out the bottom so I could put in a pot.

  45. That pan makes some beautiful cakes! So glad the Downs Syndrome group won the van..thats great. Your hydrangeas are monsters :-)

  46. What a gorgeous cake. It looks beautiful and I'm sure it is delicious. Your hydrangeas are lovely as well. Your home is beautifully landscaped. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary
