Let’s Dish # 58~Birds, Bees, Flowers and Trees!

Good evening, Ladies!  Welcome to the Let’s Dish Challenge for April, Birds, Bees, Flowers or Trees.  Your entry tonight should be on that theme.  Not hard, LOL!
I started with a moss covered basket filled with FLOWERS from my Pear TREE .
My tip for tonight, use pachysandra  to fill in arrangement.  I have done many arrangements where I filled the oasis with them, and then used very few flowers with a pretty result.
I used the tablecloth I got last year at the WSonoma Outlet.  It was on sale right before Easter.  Next came the PB bird nest chargers from the outlet, 2.00.  You can see the setting I  used it for last year with the matching napkins here.
The white swirled coupe plate is from a sale at Pier One a few years ago.  The green cabbage leaf salad is from WS outlet, same sale as the tablecloth.
The picket fence napkin rings are from my friend, Gail.  She is a dear friend who feeds my tablescape addiction with lovely gifts!
Recently she sent me a set of black and white check flatware.
I hope to concoct a scape with them soon.  Thank you, Gail!
If there are any flatware designers or buyers out there, my Dishers love patterns, so bring on the checks, dots and stripes!
We will buy them!  :)
Speaking of flatware, the ones used in tonight’s scape are new.  Sale at Horchow, free shipping, and don’t forget to link to  first for a % back!  Nope, I get nothing for saying that!
The BIRDS are from Pier One, and the little topiary name card holders…

are from  Cheaper than that novelty company that is seen all over blogland these days.
A sneeze will blow them over, so I suggest gluing a quarter to the bottom, esp if you have someone with a cold as a guest, or are using them outside!  :)
When in doubt, bring out the Waterford, so I did. It goes with every thing.
I used the bottoms of my little butter domes to hold a pale green votive.
The small green pedestal is Bardallo , a gift from my friend Pam.
The only thing I didn’t get in was a BEE.  There might be one in the flowers though!
Foodie Friday’s theme tonight is Spring Salad.  ML West hosts this party over at Rattlebridge Farm, formerly  Designs by Gollum. I have been partying with her since she started.  She takes such wonderful pictures and is such a gracious hostess!
Spring Salads it is!
Let's Dish 449
Bowtie noodles, chicken, onions snow peas, oj, mayo or yogurt , powdered mustard, and salt and pepper.  Chill a few hours so the flavors can blend, and serve.
You can serve it with a fresh asparagus quiche .
Last night we had a dinner salad.  Sliced chicken, strawberries, grapes, feta, walnuts , bacon, cranberries and of course, greens.

To BOSTON with ♥~ Let’s Dish # 57

I am saving the table I did for tonight for another time.  Instead, I did a little table to dedicate  to the people of Boston.

After 9/11, my state of NY, received so much support from other parts of our country, and we will never forget that.

My prayers for those who have been killed or injured, and for all those who live in Boston.  You will never forget that terrible day, when your celebration was ruined by this cowardly attack.

Three red roses, one for each young person killed in the attack.

I started with a tablecloth I found in HG clearance for 3.00.

Plain white charger from Noritake, blue plate from CTS, 1.00, and red square plate from Pfaltzgraf, 1.00

White handled soup from Hutschenreuther, via Peter Andrews, a store we have here on LI.

Navy blue flatware with a pattern similar to the cloth, via HG.

Blue stems via Le $ Tree, water glasses from Dansk.

Patriotic napkins are a new purchase from  They were on sale for less than 1.00 each, free shipping, then % age back from Mr. Rebates.

The knotted napkin rings are from CTS, they were .25 ea.

I was going to save them for Memorial Day, but since Patriot Day was the day Boston was attacked, I felt it fitting to use them.

I layered a blue starred napkin from Kohls , a white lacey plate from CTS , and then a blue sundae dish from Pfaltzgraff filled with the flowers and a flag.

That’s  my little tribute to Boston.  I have not been many places in the US, but I have been in that area many times as my son went to college near there.

I remember how we felt after 9/11, or should I say still feel, and I know how shaken they are.

God bless Boston, the people trying to find the killer, and all of America!

My food portion tonight is something they would have in Boston. FISH!

Fish, filet of flounder, floured and crisp fried.

I am not fond of fish…but with some crisp romaine and shredded cheddar…I’ll eat it!

Fish, lettuce, cheese, your choice of dressing and a soft flour taco.

Stick a fork in it, you’re ready!  Try and get your mouth around that!

PLEASE don’t link up if you have word id on your blog.

In the Pink~ Let’s Dish #56

Hello, Ladies, welcome  to Let’s Dish!

A few reminders…

APRIL 24th is the next theme challenge.  BIRDS, BEES, FLOWERS, or TREES.  Pretty broad topic, so everyone can join in.  Of course that excludes, snowmen or fish, sorry!  ;)

My yearly subscription to inlinkz is up soon. Before I pay to extend, do you feel we should continue with Let's Dish? I know there are so many parties out there, and every day a few more are added. Let me know if you think we should continue.
Please remember to link back to this party, and no blog entries with word id’s permitted.  Thanks!
Tonight I am in the pink!

I started with a cotton  pink plaid with a touch of lime tablecloth that I got on clearance for 2.00.  CTS018

My Lion’s head Apilco Tureen holds a bouquet of fresh pink hydrangea.
I bought them on sale after Easter, and I will plant the bush.  With luck it will come back and bring me more bouquets!

Alma, The Tablescaper,  gifted me with 4 of these white chargers for my birthday.  I just love them.  The lime green flatware is also from her.  Thank you!

Pink polka dot plate from CTS, as well as the square lacey salad plate.  I sure get my money’s worth from these, so versatile.

Small polka dot pedestal also from CTS.

Pink stem and water glass by Gorham, via the Lenox outlet.

Bird s and p flew in from Pier One.

Pink and white check napkin with a pink linen napkin held with an Italian alabaster ring from PB Outlet.

Individual  glass butter domes from WS Outlet, on sale.

I had a gift certificate for BBB, and I wanted to try one of those double Belgian Waffle Makers. I used my 20% off coupon.  It is  Waring Pro, and I am very pleased with it!

You can also get it at a good price at  SAM’S CLUB.

You make 2 at a time, which is good!  One is more than enough per person.  I made applesauce cinnamon waffles with some fresh pineapple, blueberries and strawberries.

Definitely a treat for a nice Sunday Brunch.

Luncheon with Fiance Fruit ~ Sour Cream Apple Streusel~ The Grand PB Bargain & Let’s Dish # 55!

Phew, that was a mouthful!

Welcome to Let’s Dish from cold and windy NY, where Spring is being very coy and elusive!  Below freezing again last night, I wonder when the flowers will finally bloom this year?

Today’s luncheon will be served on my everyday dishes, Fiance Fruits by Dansk.

I started with a sunny yellow round mat followed by a we bit smaller navy blue mat.

I like that there are so many colors in it, so you can go a few different ways.  I do admit I am getting tired of it though, I have had it for 10 years, but since I have a gazillion pieces of it, I will probably be bringing it with me to the old age home!  I think I have service for 18, plus platters etc.

The flatware is by Fiesta, via Tuesday Morning.

Yellow stems from Cmas Tree Shop.

The centerpiece is daffodils from the yard, the only thing blooming.  The supermarket had these tall cylinder vases filled with daffodil bulbs marked down to 3.00 yesterday  Some of the flowers were on their way out, so I filled in with big fresh ones.

I can plant the bulbs so I have an armful like Yvonne, and then I will have a tall cylinder vase like Alycia.  Someday when I grow up I want to be like them!  :)

Pale yellow napkins complete our luncheon table.

For dessert we will have Sour Cream Apple Streusel Pie.  Recipe from Gourmet magazine.  Here.

I used my new pie slicer for the many pounds of apples.  I give it a thumbs up!  I have had several and this one works great   Available on Amazon.

This is the apples after they have been mixed with the sour cream filling.

Here it is with the streusel topping before it goes in the oven.

Out of the oven and smelling delicious!

This is the second time I made this, and it is worth the effort!

Next time I will increase the amount of streusel.

I made fresh whipped cream to go with it.  If you go to  the trouble of peeling all those apples, please make fresh cream, or a dollop of ice cream is good too!

Since I was whipping cream, I made a whipped cream Bunny Cake to bring Easter.  It is filled with whipped cream and cherries. His tail is many layers of whipped cream so it is defined, but my photog skills are poor!

And now for the grand bargain from Pottery Barn Outlet!  Marked $129.00, sale 14.99!

It’s huge!  Lots of room for candles, shells, etc.

Ok, enough from me.  I still haven’t made it to everyone from last week due to the fact I was tied to the kitchen for 3 days!

Same rules…
