Oh yes, I remember Mace's. I lived right near one in Commack years ago and was there frequently, and yes, everybody thought it was Macy's when they asked where I got stuff. In the beginning I would explain the difference but I got tired of it so just let them think whatever! Your table is so pretty and I love the plaid tablecloth.

Kathleen, your table and your porch are gorgeous! I love those salad plates, and I know our Wal Mart did not have those. And yes, I can certainly see those green plates on a St. Pat's table, but they are perfect on this Christmas table too. Your porch looks so inviting in all it's holiday finery. If I wasn't sure it is really cold in your neck of the woods, I'd be saying I want to come sit in that rocker and enjoy the beauty. laurie

If you can't keep those poinsettias alive at LEAST until Christmas....girl, what is wrong with you!??!?!! :-) Poinsettias are one of the easiest to keep alive. I had one this past year that lived through April when I finally tired of looking at it and tossed it. Just don't overwater, and make sure they get plenty of sunshine. I sniffled when I read about your friend, Don. Beautiful table!

I love it, Kathleen, and I love the “stories” behind it. It made me sad to read about Don—we just never know when people say something in the course of natural conversation that will long be remembered as one of the last memories. I love your green and red plates—they will be so useful for many tables. And I love your pinecone basket too. Your warm, cozy setting is lovely, and lives up to the promise evoked by your beautiful front porch!

I love the table. There is something about plaid. Yes, this season will be a rough one. Losing any friend is difficult, but an old one, all the more difficult.

Great detail on the porch! Every little nook and cranny has something of interest. All you need now are some carolers!
