It’s Almost Here! Let’s Dish!

Good evening, Ladies!  Thanks to all those who linked or stopped by to leave a comment on the Copy Cat  Tables.  Mostly everyone followed the rules and posted a picture of their insp from the net, or a magazine, that was the idea.

The winner of the gift card is ROSIE at the Magic Hutch.  Rosie, please contact me with your mailing address.

I didn’t get to do the table  I had planned to show you tonight.  Since Sunday, 3 deaths have taken a piece of my spirit.  A very dear friend, suddenly, another friend after a 6 month illness, and the son of my high school friend, who was in his 40’s of a heart attack. If you are so inclined, please say a prayer for their families. My heart is heavy for their families.

I started with a plaid placemat, topped with a bright red plate.  The mats were from CTS a few years ago, and the plates are from the Pfaltzgraff dollar day sale a few years ago.

A white lacey plate came next, topped with a Santa bowl from WSonoma Outlet a few years ago. My friend Debbie at Mountain Breaths sent me the little MC holder.  Tonight it holds fresh greens.

Black cotton napkin from Lenox, with a pine cone and bell napkin ring from BBB.  The black stems are from Pier One and the flatware is also from BBB, in the clearance and then a 20% off coupon.

The little white butter domes are from CTS, and the shakers are Pfaltzgraff.

I bought a bunch of these little red plaid baking dishes to fill with cookies and give as gifts.  They were 1.00 in CTS, then 20% off.

My centerpiece is a large hurricane surrounded by a faux wreath, sitting on a large round scalloped platter. This is on my table for the season and is easily removed because of the platter underneath.  It looks like a bed of snow! Smile If I get the finishing touches on, I will show you.

I attached mini bottle brush trees to the wreath.  I hope to get some little houses in there, but like I said, this has been some week.

If you wish to link up to our little party, please leave a comment for me.  Only one dish related link per week, and a link back to this post must be included in your post.

I hope to open Let’s Dish up for one more Cmas table.  It will probably be early, so watch your sidebar, and I will post it on FB.

I am joining Susan for Tablescape Thurs.

Let’s see what you have been jingle belling !

Oh, the JANUARY CHALLENGE ?  Any ideas?  Last Jan. it was Winter.  We need something different!

  1. Good evening Kathleen, Thank you so much for hosting the party tonight. I truly appreciate all of your work to make this linky party possible. I am still working on my table tonight and will be posting it tomorrow. I am loving the black and red plaid mats with the black wine glasses and the black Lenox napkins. Everything is beautiful!

  2. Our thoughts are with you, Kathleen. Here's wishing for a much brighter Christmas holiday from now on. Thank you so very much for last week's challenge - as usual, we had a great time - and we greatly appreciate the blog party this week. Merry Christmas to you and your family.

  3. Kathleen, my heart aches for you. I have two friends with very ill family members. It is difficult for them to find any joy in the season this year. A lot of sadness as both are relatively young and suddenly faced with terminal illness.
Will try to get something new posted for this week. I've two tables waiting in the wings, but editing photos and getting a post done hasn't happened. Thank you for sharing your fun tartan table.
Thinking of you and your friends.

  4. My prayers are going for you and the families that have lost their loved ones lately. How sad, just now, so close to Christmas.
I had such a great time with the last challenge...thanks dear.
Now, this is a house tour with tree and all, BUT, I have a little C'mas tea set up in the family room. If it's not suitable, please delete, I will not get bend over backwards!
I deleted the word verification with your instructions...please check and see if I did it!
Merry Christmas and blessings for you and yours.

  5. Kathleen, I'm so sorry about all your sorrow this week. I can understand why your heart is so heavy. It's a Christmas miracle...I had tables set to join in with this week. I will pray for you and your friends dear Kathleen. Joy in the midst of sorrow seems to be an ongoing theme...

  6. I absolutely love the black plaid!! Prayers for the families with tragic loss!

  7. I am so sorry for the loss of so many friends from your life at one time, especially during the holidays. My thoughts and prayers are with their families as well as yours.
Your table is beautiful, love the tartan placemats. I am so jealous you have a CTS near you...wish they would open one in this area. Love the centerpiece.

  8. I love your plaid! But I'm partial to plaid at Christmas. Sorry about your losses! Deaths this time of year seem to worse, I think.

  9. Oh my Kathleen. I am sorry for the loss of your friends I will keep these families in my prayers. Thank you for taking the time to host today. I am sure it was very difficult.

I love your table. Plaid is perfect for the holidays,

  10. I am posting a table in the morning so will come back and link up then! Thanks for hosting.

  11. I'm sorry, I forgot to say how sorry I am for your losses. It always seems worse when people die during the holidays. XO

  12. I am sorry you have had such a sad week -- it must be terrible. Thanks for hosting the party anyway -- it's very thoughtful of you to do it.

  13. I am so sorry for he deaths of your your friends, Kathleen. I will say a prayer for them and the bereaved family. Your table is pretty and very festive and what a good deal on those little plaid bakers....Christine

  14. Kathleen - I am so very sorry that you have to endure these losses, especially at this wonderful time of the year. I wish your friends and family peace and joy now and for the coming year.

  15. Kathleen,
There is no time to lose a loved one that is more sorrowful that the Christmas Holiday.
My heart aches for you, dear friend!!!
I'm combining my prayers with yours for the families mentioned in your post.
Blogger has attached a # verification to my blog (and those of others I follow)
that I can not eliminate, for this I apologize!
    Thanks for hosting Let's Dish!
Looking forward to some new challenges in 2015!!!

  16. I'm so sorry to read about the loss of your friends, Kathleen. That is always hard, and especially so at holiday time. Your table is so festive and welcoming. I hope you and your lovely family enjoy a very happy and blessed holiday.

  17. Your table is bright and cheery. Hopefully, it's a little balm for your heart. I've been thinking of you and your friends.

  18. I was just popping by to wish you woderful holidays with your clan..and read this.
I am so sorry for you..I have had sorrows around the holidays also and things don't sit right or are the same at all.
    Take care..

  19. I'm so sorry for the sadness in your life now. It's bad to have one death, but three is awful, especially at this time of the year. I'm praying for you and your friends.

    Thank you for hosting.

  20. Kathleen, thank you for the party, and I love your table touches, esp the WS Santa bowls. Congrats to Rosie, and your request for those families will be honored.
    Rita C at Panoply

  21. Hi, Kathleen. How good of you to follow through on your party amidst so much sadness you are feeling right now. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I am thrilled about winning the gift card; I honestly rarely win anything and it means even more because it was part of your blogaversary celebration. Many thanks for your generosity and the creative spirit you have shared with us all. Take care, Rosie

  22. Oh, Kathleen: how to I find your email address to send you my address? Rosie

  23. So sorry, Kathleen....I don't know how you are hosting in light of what you must be enduring. God bless you and yours; friends and families.

  24. Oh Kathleen, what a tragic week you have had! So hard to deal with multiple losses at once and especially at this time of year. My prayers are with you and the families. Your plaid red and black table looks terrific. I really like the hurricane centerpiece.

  25. Hi Kathleen, I'm so very sorry to hear about your bereavements this week. Our son's friend from college lost his father suddenly this week. I know that makes it hard to feel the Christmas spirit. Thank you for hosting -- your table looks really pretty. I'm loving all the plaids this year. :)

    Warm hugs to you,

    Denise at Forest Manor

  26. I forgot to add -- Sorry I'm late to the party! I had to finish this table after shopping yesterday, and hubby took pictures last night. :)

  27. My heart goes out to you, for so many losses at this time of year. (((HUGS))) I know exactly how you feel. My favorite uncle passed away last week & my daughter-in-law's father died & my sewing friend, Anne's DH passed away suddenly on Thanksgiving morning. So very say at any time, but especially difficult at holiday time.

In spite of your heavy heart, you've created a very festive table, the little Santa hat plates & that pretty red & black plaid ...all the accents work beautifully together.
I'm sorry I can't join you this week with a table...maybe next week.

  28. p.s. I got similar Christmas baking dishes from online at CTS. Fully intended to bake in them, but it didn't happen last year & its not looking too good for this year, either. *sigh*

  29. How sad, Kathleen. It's an awful time of year to lose a loved one. My sympathies to you and the families. Merry Christmas, Kathleen, to you and your wonderful family.

  30. Thankyou for hosting at such a difficult time in your life. May God hold you in the palm of his hands. My prayers are with you and the families. May your Christmas be blessed.

  31. I AM so inclined to say prayers to ease the heavy hearts of all affected by those deaths. My goodness! No time is a good time for anyone to die, but especially around the Christmas holidays. I feel for each and every person who has passed on as well as those left here to mourn them.

Your tablescape is beautiful. I'm sure you poured your emotions into it because it has a very traditional feel to it. I think when our hearts are saddened it seems to pull out the nostalgic side of our personality and creativity.

Merry Christmas, dear Kathleen! I don't have a dish-related post for this week yet, plus it's too late to post an entry for "Table It!", but I'll poke around to see what the other ladies (and guys!) are up to. Take care of yourself and again, my deepest sympathies.

  32. I'm so sorry for the loss of those close to you, Kathleen. It's such a terrible loss for those dear ones and especially during the holidays. It does take away some of your spirit. In spite of all that, you made a beautiful table for us to enjoy and your family, too. Hopefully I can join in next time. Merry Christmas blessings to you and yours.

  33. Oh...I forgot to throw in my 2 cents for the January challenge, even though I probably will have had my surgery by then and won't be able to participate. :-( I suggest perhaps a challenge for a tablescape WAY opposite those many of us created for the Christmas holidays. Perhaps tables that have a decidedly casual, cozy vibe? Or maybe ski lodge-like? How about tablescapes that depict another country or something from the country we most identify with?

Those are my thoughts on the subject. I sure hope whatever you choose that I will have an opportunity to participate. I haven't put together a tablescape (with the exception of Thanksgiving since we were hosting) since the first week in November!!!

  34. Congratulations to Rosie on her win! I hope to be able to join you for the January challenge, and am so sorry for the loss of dear ones. Glad you are enjoying the MacKenzie-Childs container. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  35. Stopping by to wish you a very Merry Christmas, Kathleen!

  36. So cute! I love the little trees around the hurricane and those santa hat bowls are adorable! I don't think I've ever seen those before.

  37. Kathleen,

I loved seeing these tables, but I hate, hate, hate that your friends died. And a 40 year old having a hard attack? That's really rough! Please know I am thinking of you.

I have been so discombulated that I missed the copycat challenge AGAIN. I battled shingles earlier in the fall, and I am still recuperating. I also cracked my IPAD and am using Mr. Magpie's computer when I can steal it from him which is not often because he has been swamped at work. Hopefully next year! I need to scout around and find a table to copy. Do we literally copy it, or do we use it as inspiration?

I am tired and getting ready to turn in. I tried to blog today, but my stamina is not what it was six years ago when I eagerly started visiting folks. Alas, I try!

Wishing you a very Happy 2015! And make the road rise to meet you and the wind be always at your back. I have been doing some major research on Ireland and have a whole new appreciation for all things Irish. I love history!

    Sheila :-)

  38. Happy New Year Kathleen! So, so sorry to hear about your losses. You and their families are in my prayers.

  39. Oh,'s been awhile since you've posted...hope everything is ok.
I've thought of you all thru these weather forecasts....hope you are all snuggled in...pantry full....lots of bottled water and plenty of firewood.
Please let me hear from you when you prayers for you and all the people being caught up in this expected weather.....I see the snow has already started...many many yrs ago, I was a senior in high school and Plainview Tx, where I lived, had almost 30 inches of snow and, being silly teenagers, we had an absolute school for a week...but cattle died right and left...we didn't have the advanced warning as they do now.
    Please stay, bj

  40. Hi Kathleen
I hope you are are all dug out by now. It looks like the blizzard hit you hard but we only had about 18" of snow and no ice. Looking forward to seeing a post from you soon. Linda

  41. Missing you and hope you are doing alright. I'm sure the losses you suffered before Christmas and now the terrible storms your area has been experiencing have put bogging on a back burner for you but wanted you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Thank you for visiting my blog, I appreciate your visit!
